Why it exists

If you search for a cafe in Nagpur you get listings and star ratings. Neither answers the question people actually have, which is usually specific: can I work here for four hours, is there a socket I can reach, is it still open at eleven, what will two of us spend.

Those facts exist in public — scattered across each cafe's own site, its social accounts and its listings. Nobody had put them in one table. That is the whole idea.

Who runs it

Ajinkya Pisal builds and maintains this site. Software engineer by trade, not a food writer — which is the honest framing for what this is. The interesting problem here was never the reviews; it was whether a useful, accurate local guide can be compiled from public data and kept current without anyone driving around Nagpur with a notebook.

That means the method matters more than my opinion, so the method is the thing that is published: the scoring weights, the source list on every cafe page, and the full dataset under an open licence. If a ranking here looks wrong, you can check the arithmetic rather than take my word for it. I would rather be correctable than authoritative.

How the data is gathered

Honestly, and with a limitation stated up front: we have not visited these cafes. Every attribute is compiled from public sources, with at least three independent sources per cafe, and each one is cited on the cafe's own page. Where sources say nothing, we record nothing rather than guessing.

Rankings are computed from that data using weights published on how we rank — no editorial thumb on the scale. The full dataset is openly licensed.

How it pays for itself

Advertising, and nothing else. We take no payment from cafes, accept no sponsored placements, and no cafe can buy a position in a ranking — the order is computed, so there is nothing to sell. Ad slots are marked as advertisements.
